Ebby Halliday Frisco will be hosting its Sixth Annual Charity Golf Tournament at Stonebriar Country Club on Thursday, October 23. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the event will benefit City House and its expansion into Frisco, and donations are tax-deductible.
Golf sponsorships and team registrations are still available for the tournament, which will have a shotgun start at noon. Non-golfers are also welcome to attend the awards dinner and silent auction with a $35 donation. Cocktails are at 5 pm with dinner and silent auction commencing at 6 pm. All reservations are due by Thursday, October 16, 2014. Please visit www.ebbyfriscogolf.org for more information on the golf tournament.

To kick-off the tournament, Ebby Halliday Frisco sponsored a Lexus Raffle Party last night at Estilo Gaucho Brazilian Steakhouse in Frisco beginning at 5 pm. The raffle, sponsored by Park Place Lexus in Plano, awarded a year-long lease that includes some variety; while it is one lease, the lucky winner will have use of a total of four new Lexus vehicles over that 12-month span, with a different model driven every quarter.
“This is a once in a lifetime chance to drive four new Lexus vehicles in the coming months,” says Terri Macaluso, manager/broker, Ebby Halliday Frisco office. “City House is expanding into Frisco to provide for the homeless, neglected and abused youth in our community. Please reach deep into your pockets and help the needy youth served by City House.”
MORE ABOUT THE CITY HOUSE EXPANSION TO FRISCO
For more than 26 years, City House has been providing emergency shelter and transitional residential services to children and young adults of Collin County who are in need due to abuse, neglect or homelessness.
Studies show that homelessness is growing faster in American suburbs, rather than the cities. Frisco is no exception. There has been a 112 percent increase in homelessness within DFW suburbs over the last 10 years. Even in a thriving area like Frisco, much of the homelessness is hidden, with youth couch-surfing with friends or staying with neighbors. Recent Frisco ISD reports show 204 homeless students attend Frisco elementary, middle, and high schools.
City House is opening two transitional living homes in Frisco in 2014, one for males and one for females, ages 18 to 21. “We give them a place to stay so they can focus on learning to live independently,” says Program Director Linda Goodman, LMSW, LCCA. “Our staff works with these residents on a daily basis offering them case management, providing life skills classes, assisting them with budgeting and resume building, completing high school, applying to college, matching them to a mentor that walks alongside them through this journey and more. This proven Transitional Living Program has been very successful in Plano since 2002, and we are excited to bring it to Frisco. It takes a community and all of us in Frisco need to respond to this growing issue.”
The Frisco Resource Center is now open, where life skills classes and case management sessions are held. The Resource Center is accessible to youth ages 13 – 21 and available to both residents and non-residents of the transitional living homes.
ABOUT CITY HOUSE
City House was founded 26 years ago by two Plano ISD school teachers, sadly inspired by several of their students who were living out of their cars and lockers. In 1988, City House opened its doors. What began as a six-bed shelter has grown into a four-home, 36-bed, multi-faceted agency that provides residential and non-residential services to more than 500 children, young adults and their families each year.
City House is working on expansion into Frisco in 2014, including two homes (one for young men and one for female youth) as part of its Transitional Living Program for young adults, ages 18 through 21, and a Youth Resource Center. The mission of City House is to provide emergency shelter and transitional residential services to children and young adults who are in need due to abuse, neglect or homelessness.
