On Sept. 19, Frisco Family Services (FFS) launched its Community Giving Campaign to raise funds in order to continue their mission of helping those in the Frisco and Frisco ISD communities who are facing hunger, homelessness, and other urgent needs improve their quality of life and achieve self-sufficiency.
After her husband left, Helen (last name omitted) needed to find a job to afford the continuous round-the-clock care her special needs required. After staying home and tending to her son for the past 12 years, Helen joined a workforce that had progressed beyond her limited skills and abilities. FFS was there with financial assistance to cover the cost of Helen’s Pharmaceutical Tech Certificate and provided resume writing and interview training.
“Without the job training, resources and encouragement I received from FFS, I honestly don’t know where my son and I would be today,” Helen said. “I never expected to be the sole provider for my family, but with assistance, I was able to pull through.”
Every day, families come through FFS’s doors. Looking for help; looking for strength; looking for hope. Last year, FFS served more than 3,200 people providing more than $267,000 in emergency financial assistance that is used to pay the rent or mortgage, keep utilities connected, pay for prescription medication, keep the gas tank full and address other urgent needs.
Through Frisco’s ONLY food pantry, FFS distributed more than 463,000 pounds of healthy nutritious food allowing clients’ limited finances to go toward other critical needs. Frisco Family Services gave families the resources, tools and confidence to achieve self-sufficiency.
Every day, Frisco Family Services remains committed to helping its neighbors in need, but cannot do so without the generosity and caring support of the community. With an investment in the community and its residents, Frisco individuals and families will continue to find support, strength, and opportunities through the generosity of neighbors.
