St. Philip’s Episcopal Preschool – A Joyful Learning Environment for Children

st-philips-preschoolLet’s be honest – choosing a preschool for your kid is a daunting, almost herculean, task. There are so many options in Frisco, how do you know which one is the right fit for your child? Is it a right fit for you as a parent and your parenting philosophy? What about cost? Hours of operation? Is the curriculum accredited? Is the faculty going to provide the time and attention to your kid that you want?

Parents, let me introduce you to St. Philip’s Episcopal Preschool!

Full disclosure time: I’m a dad. And when my wife and I started looking at preschools for our 3 year old, we were overwhelmed. After weeding through all the potential choices out there, St. Philip’s Preschool was the clear choice for our child. Singularly, it has been one of the best parenting decisions we have ever made. I do not say that lightly, friends.

Here’s the St. Philip’s secret to success: the Administration and the Faculty. These people just love what they do…and it shows! They are true educators and have a passion for the children they serve.

I think it really starts at the top. Director Jill Lein and Assistant Director Autumn Fankhauser set the tone and direction for the entire organization. The faculty and staff reflect this dedication to excellence as well. All teachers and co-teachers meet one or more of the following qualifications and are placed in positions that reflect their experience and expertise:

  • College degree and state certification
  • College education and at least two years teaching experience
  • State Preschool Certified and two years teaching experience
  • More than two years experience teaching in a Preschool environment

Each class has a Lead Teacher and a Co-Teacher. All Teachers and Co-Teachers are certified in first aid and CPR. All faculty are required to receive at least 24 CEU/training hours per year.

Child-to-Teacher ratios and class size are optimal too. Here’s the St. Philip’s breakdown:

  • 2-1/2 to 3 year old class – 1 teacher per 4 students
  • 3 to 4 year old class – 1 teacher per 7 students
  • 4 to 5 year old class – 1 teacher per 9 students
  • Transitional Kindergarten – 1 teacher per 10 students

The St. Philip’s curriculum is developed by Mother Goose Time – a professionally designed and nationally recognized preschool program of studies. This curriculum nurtures the whole child and supports the child’s social, emotional and intellectual growth. Curriculum components include Language Development – including Spanish, Literacy, Mathematics, Science, Creative Arts, Social and Emotional Development, Physical Health and Safety, and Global and Community Awareness.

Another unique thing about St. Philip’s is that it is one of the few preschools in the Frisco area that offers a full day curriculum. And, if you don’t need a full day program, you can adjust your child’s attendance based on what you want and your child needs. See a full overview of the St. Philip’s programs here.

My 4 year old loves this place. He loves the faculty and the time he spends there. We’ve never once had a problem with getting off to school because he’s usually the one pushing US out the door. “Time to go to school, Dad…” This is priceless stuff. If you’re a parent, you understand EXACTLY what I mean.

My 8 month old starts St. Philips in just under a year and half…why mess with perfection?
