19 Options for a Frisco Valentine’s Day

It’s here again. February 14th is just around the corner, providing an opportunity to celebrate our special significant others. Celebrating at home is obviously more convenient and less expensive, but given the date falls on a weekend this year, you may feel like venturing out. If so, check out a selection of local options to suit all wallets.

For many of us, the first part of planning for Valentine’s Day involves the kids. Babysitters may have their own plans or were booked well in advance. If you’re like me, you may not have family in town to help. How can you arrange some one-on-one time? If the children are school-age, why not consider a ‘day date’, while they are at school the day before? Alternatively, try a drop-in play care option, such as Adventure Kids, where they can enjoy a fun hour or two while you focus on your significant other. This Valentine’s weekend they are running a special Valentine’s themed party just for kids!

Now that it’s just the two of you, it’s time to decide what to do with your time.

If you have time during the day:

Frisco Heritage Museum – Educate yourselves on local Frisco History by taking a stroll around the museum and experience all it has to offer, including interactive exhibits and local memorabilia. The Museum of the American Railroad currently also houses exhibits here. Follow up with a home cooked, southern style lunch at Babe’s Chicken next door!

Frisco’s Main Street – How many times do you drive up and down old Main Street Frisco but never actually park the car to browse the cute boutiques & stores that line our historic town?

Frisco Mercantile – Just off Preston and Main and currently housing over 200 dealers, it’s a treasure trove of home décor, furniture, antiques, collectibles, and so much more. Why not drop in to choose some special piece together for your home?

Worked up an appetite? Grab a kid-free brunch at some Frisco favorite eateries:

Chef in Blue (East Frisco) – A European twist for breakfast with freshly made-to-order crepes with a variety of fillings to choose from. The coffee is outstanding, said to rival Starbucks!

Starwood Café (West Frisco) – Popular with West Frisco neighborhoods, the Starwood serves up favorite breakfast classics including skillets, eggs, pancakes, waffles and omelets, and lots of good coffee.

The Depot Café – The Depot offers tasty southern breakfast and brunch options coupled with a very warm welcome, complete with an old town neighborhood feel.

If you do have the evening to yourselves, here are some ‘fancy’ date night choices:

La Trattoria Gardenia – Homemade pasta, hand-tossed pizza, and freshly baked bread in this authentic Italian restaurant with a relaxed romantic setting. Just perfect for Valentine’s night.

Bonnie Ruth’s – Dinner & Dancing to live music will begin on Feb. 12th in this popular French Cuisine Restaurant with a neighborhood feel. Beautiful courtyard seating with fireplace.

Seasons 52 – Casually sophisticated atmosphere with a seasonally changing menu. Add a backdrop of piano music and it makes for a perfect romantic setting. (Ok, we’re stretching since this is technically Plano, but we love it.)

Perry’s – Fine dining with exceptional personal service and a relaxed, but nice atmosphere. Perry’s boasts an excellent bar and chef-driven menu bringing more much-needed fine dining to Frisco.

Silver Fox – Silver Fox has been in Frisco for a while and never fails to serve up a classy experience. Silver Fox is a great traditional steakhouse choice if you want to enjoy a long, slow, romantic dinner.

If you’re looking for something a little less formal, try one of these:

Randy’s Steakhouse – renowned for its steaks, but everything on the menu is good!

Best Thai – 10 years in Frisco Square, the best Thai food in town.

eight|11 place – check out this old Frisco home converted to the cutest wine bar which serves delicious food to share, and a huge choice in wine, beers and cocktails.  Just this week they are baking fresh new desserts for Valentine’s weekend – Chocolate cheesecake with strawberries baked inside, tiramisu, and carrot cake…. yummm!

Mash’d – Original American fare in a lively atmosphere coupled with a unique menu and cocktails infused with moonshine.

Or have you done enough dinner and drink dates and you want to try something different? If so, Frisco and the neighboring cities have it ALL to offer on alternative date night options:

Top Golf -Whether you’re a beginner or a pro, enjoy a fun night of recreational golf games with great food and drink options (brunch on weekends). Bays are heated on these cooler February nights.

Frisco Gun Club – A first experience for many in a luxury country club environment with drinks and dining options. Checkout Groupon, which is currently featuring 3 different shooting packages for two or four people.

iFLY – Experience the adrenaline rush together as you skydive like a superhero, without a parachute! Arriving in Frisco just last year, this has become a very popular date night experience for couples.

Color Me MinePaint by Candlelight” – Plan a “paint date” with your sweetie. On February 13,14 or 15th, Color Me Mine is setting the mood with candles, roses and kisses (the chocolate kind) and you can both enjoy making a special memory or keepsake.

There’s something for everyone right on your doorstep. Enjoy your local Valentine’s weekend and let us know your experience. Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!
