Teenagers, this one’s for you. This summer, Frisco isn’t just a suburb with strip malls and soccer moms — it’s your playground. Whether you’re a thrill-seeker, a creative soul, or just trying to dodge boredom like it’s a group project, Frisco’s got some seriously cool stuff going on. Here are ten underestimated, totally-not-lame things to do that’ll make your summer legendary. And BONUS, most of them are free!
1. Go on a Mural Scavenger Hunt
Forget overpriced attractions — Frisco’s mural scene is totally Instagram-worthy. Grab your phone, your besties, and your most extra outfit, because it’s time to go on a Mural Scavenger Hunt through the streets of downtown Frisco. Make it a challenge: who can take the most creative photo at each mural? Bonus points for themed outfits, dramatic poses, or recreating the mural’s vibe. Don’t forget to tag #iHeartFrisco — you might even get featured on the city’s official page!

2. Dive into the Lazy River at Riders Field
Yes, you read that right. Watch a baseball game while floating in a lazy river. It’s the only one of its kind in the country, and it’s basically the chillest way to enjoy America’s favorite pastime. Bring your friends, buy some snacks, and vibe out in the water while the game plays on.
3. Join a Club, Learn a Skill, or Create Something at Frisco Public Library
Our extraordinary Frisco Public Library is way more than books. Teens can join clubs like the Anime Club, Teen Writers Group, or even take part in music production and 3D design workshops. There’s something happening almost every week, and it’s all free. Plus, it’s a great place to meet people who geek out over the same stuff you do.
4. Volunteer and Rack Up Those Service Hours
Need volunteer hours for school, a service organization, or just want to do something meaningful? Frisco has tons of teen-friendly volunteer opportunities. The Frisco Library’s VolunTEEN Corps is a great place to start—it lets you help out with events, gain job skills, and earn hours while making a difference. You can also check with local nonprofits, animal shelters, or city events for more ways to get involved.

5. Conquer the Sky at Canyons Rock Climbing Gym
Forget basic gyms—this place is vertical. With walls that look like they were designed by a video game level designer, Canyons offers bouldering and top-rope climbing routes for all skill levels. Bonus: it’s indoors, so you can escape the Texas heat while still feeling like a beast.
6. Upgrade Your Summer Playlist
Every Friday night in June, Frisco Square transforms into a free outdoor concert venue where the vibes are high, the music is loud, and the price tag is nonexistent. Bring your lawn chairs, picnic blankets, your food, and your crew to Simpson Plaza for a lineup of local talent that spans everything from ‘80s throwbacks to country jams and high-energy party bands.

7. Toss a Football at Tostitos Championship Plaza
Weeknight evenings are a great time to hit The Star for free Dallas Cowboys-themed outdoor fun and games. It’s less busy than on the weekend, and teenagers can hang out on the turf to pass the football, take selfies, and then grab some ice cream at Cow Tipping Creamery!
8. Catch an Outdoor Movie Night
Most Friday nights (weather permitting), the PGA District hosts a free movie night on the lawn in front of the giant screen. Bring lawn blankets, your favorite picnic fare, and maybe a football. The movies are usually younger kid flicks, but the nostalgia of it all is half the fun!

9. Make Waves at a Water Park
Want a quick, no-commitment way to beat the heat? The Frisco Water Park is your go-to. With a lazy river, water slides, and shaded chill zones, it’s the perfect spot to meet up with friends for a spontaneous splash session. You can grab a day pass or go all in with a Splash Pass for unlimited visits all summer. (Hint: a season pass to Hawaiian Waters in The Colony is a great value, too, and super fun!)
10. Play Sand Volleyball
Little Elm Beach has a bunch of courts for free sand volleyball, plus a snack bar, and a spot for lake swimming. Before you head home, there’s a station to hose off — both yourself and all of your sand-covered belongings. Last we heard, Little Elm Beach is free on weekdays, but there’s a parking fee on the weekend.
Bonus Round:
Throughout the summer, keep an eye out for pop-up events at Kaleidoscope Park, The Rail District, PGA District, and The Star — from street art festivals to night markets, there’s always something unexpected happening. And of course, our events calendar is always a good resource!
So ditch the clichés and make this summer in Frisco one for the books. Which of these sounds like your kind of fun?
