Scott Ellis: Welcome to episode 52 of the Frisco podcast. I’m your host, Scott Ellis, and we’re here to wish you a very merry Christmas. All right, welcome back. It is the end of another great year in Frisco. So much has happened. We’ve had a ton of fun this year and while we’ve had some starts and stops with the podcast, we wanted to come back on one last time this year and say thank you to all of those of you who have stuck around, everybody who listens to the podcast on a regular basis. We are going to be amping up what we’re going to be doing with the podcast next year, so there’s going to be a lot of new interviews, a whole lot of things coming.
Some of the things you’re going to hear are going to be things that we’ve done plenty of in the past, like election coverage. There are a number of people running for city council, there’s a mayoral election coming up, so we’ve got lots of stuff to talk about there, and of course, there’s all of the ongoing growth that’s happening in Frisco so we will be talking more about the $5 Billion Mile and some of the other developments that are coming to our city. Now, one of the things that have been very important to Wendy and I from the day that we started the site was encouraging as much as possible support for the local community.
This particular site was part of how we wanted to do that and this Christmas, even though we’re only day or two away from the actual event itself, we know a lot of you still have a little bit of last minute Christmas shopping, so we wanted to reach out and encourage you as much as possible. If you’ve got to get out and about, if you’ve got to go fight the crowds, rather than just run into the mall, put some thought and a little research into some of the local businesses here in Frisco. Helping them out is helping a neighbor, it’s helping the local economy, and it really goes a long way towards furthering the already number of good things that are happening here in Frisco.
We did a “Christmas Shopping The Frisco Way” post that you can find on the site. If you just go under LifestyleFrisco.com/shopping you will find it. It is the second post right now and we’ve got just a few of the many local businesses that would love to have your business this time of year, and there are really some fantastic businesses doing some amazing things, so I’m just going to encourage you to go out, find out that post, and think hard about shopping local whenever you possibly can.
As far as changes for the podcast, next year we’re going to be amping up the frequency. It’s not going to happen right out of the gate, but as the year goes on, you’re going to be hearing the podcast more often than once a week. There is so much to cover and so much to talk about that once a week just doesn’t seem like enough. While we’re staying away from being a true news broadcast of any kind, we’re definitely lifestyle, we’re definitely all about Frisco. We are going to update the podcast more often, give you more insights and information on what’s going on and what we’re hearing about and what we’re learning about.
The other thing you’re going to start to hear, and some of you are going to love this, some of you are going to hate it, is we have podcast sponsors coming. As you can imagine, it’s a lot of work to produce all of the content that we do, including the podcast, and we are reaching out and we have some folks that are signed up that are going to be sponsoring the podcast and helping us to continue to bring you all of that content. Our first shout out this week is going out to Stan’s Main Street.
We’ve done a lot of work with them over the last year. Jennifer has been just amazing to work with. She’s a big supporter of the community and you guys are going to be hearing more about them, and they are sponsoring this podcast and the next few. If you haven’t been out to Stan’s, highly recommend it. They’ve got just an amazing burger. You know, we do that burger thing every September, and there’s a lot of great contenders on there. Stan’s is one of them. You’ve got to go check it out when you’re in the mood for a great burger, but it’s also just a fun, casual, family friendly environment so while you may associate Stan’s with the bar and grill thing, all of their tables have family friendly games on them, they have a great back patio, they do a ton of great live music.
We’re going to be bringing you sponsorship by local businesses including some of the things that we’re going to be talking about that Stan’s is doing and others down the road, so we’ll blend that in there and help it make sense as much as we can, but let us know. Let us know what you think. We want your feedback. More importantly, we want your feedback on the other content in the podcast. What do you guys want to hear about? what would you like to know more about that’s happening in Frisco?
For some people, the written form is perfect. They like to go out and hit the blog post whenever they want. For others, the podcast is a great way to catch up on something that’s happening in town, whether you’re at the gym or driving on your way to work, or just whenever you’re out for a walk. We want this to be something that is of interest to you guys, what you want to know about, what do you want to hear more about, so let us know. You can drop us a comment in the show notes for this show, you can tweet at us, @LSFrisco, or hit us up on Facebook.com/LifestyleFrisco.
Just wherever you want to find us, come find us. Let us know what you think about the podcast, what do you want to hear more about, and we will take all of those things into consideration and hopefully make this an even better show next year. The other ask that we have is that if you are enjoying the podcast, if you think it’s worthwhile, share it with somebody you know in town, or that you know that’s coming to town. We want to be a resource not only for people in Frisco, but also for people that are looking at Frisco as a place to live, who are considering moving here, or who are definitely doing so.
For right now, that’s really it. There’s no interview this week. We’re going to be taking next week off to gear up for the next year and put some more thought and plans into what we’re going to be doing. We have a whole lot of stuff coming, we’re very excited about it, so look for changes on the site, for changes in the podcast, and as always, you guys know where to find us on social media. Thank you so much for tuning in. Love, love doing this podcast, and if nobody was tuning in, I would still be doing this podcast because I enjoy it that much, but I’m glad that those of you who are out there listening are doing so, and we’ll be talking to you in 2017.
