Flash frozen at -320º, Frisco iCream Café is an ice cream shop with a lusciously sweet twist located by the FC Dallas stadium.
Walking into the iCream Café, you can’t help but feel like you’ve entered the future with twisting tubes and metallic mixers, but one taste and you’ll know it’s good old-fashioned ice cream. If anything, it tastes creamier and better than a classic ice cream cone.
The Frisco iCream location is one of the only two locations in the United States, and the one-of-a-kind experience makes it a must do in Frisco. In 2009, Co-Founders Cora Shaw and Jason McKinney developed the idea in a graduate school course and tested the concept in their flagship Chicago location. They’ve now brought their unique idea to Frisco. The Frisco location is the first franchise in the United States, but iCream is branching out to the rest of the world with two new cafés planned for Dubai and Kuwait.
iCream has a three-step process to go from liquid to frozen treat, and it’s up to the customer to decide what they want and how they want it. The first step in the process is to pick a base liquid (soy milk, organic milk, etc…). Then, add in a flavor like green tea, red velvet, or even curry. The customer picks add-ins and the mixture is put into a mixer that freezes it with liquid nitrogen. The effect from the quick freeze is not only an amazingly efficient process, but it also produces a creamy sweetness that’s part of what makes iCream unique. The process results in a one-of-a-kind treat that’s different for every customer.
You can also get sorbet, or hot pudding for that time of year when something a little warmer is in order. If you’re a family looking for something to cater to everyone’s taste or wanting to try something new and exciting, iCream is the place to go. At iCream, if you can create it, they’ll make it.
