With a mission of strengthening our community and each other through volunteering, friendship and fundraising, the Frisco Women’s League is an independent organization of women dedicated to making sure Frisco is one of the best cities around and they are currently seeking new members!
The Frisco Women’s League began in 2002 with 7 ladies in a living room discussing how they wanted to give back to Frisco, the community in which they lived. Today, with 175 members donating time and talent to the tune of more than 6,200 volunteer service hours, the League was just named “Small Non-Profit of the Year” by the Frisco Chamber of Commerce.
FWL values service driven by passion and humility, relationships built on respect, and stewardship with integrity, and members are comprised of 54 New Members, 81 Actives (1 – 5 years of service), and 40 Sustainers (greater than 5 years of service). They are a diverse group of ladies that have a common goal of serving our community:
- Insight into community needs and opportunities to contribute to solutions.
- Interaction and partnerships with community leaders
- New friends and opportunities for continued growth and personal fulfillment
- Networking, both professionally and socially
- Direct impact in our community
- Opportunities for leadership training
The Frisco Women’s League is not associated with any other national organization… It is an independent, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, and FWL members must be at least 21 years of age to apply. Plus, being a Frisco resident is not a requirement. Current FWL members reside in Frisco, Little Elm, McKinney, The Colony, Plano, Celina, and Lewisville.
The “Mother Daughter Tea” is the signature event by the Frisco Women’s League which sells out every year. Recommended dress code is “traditional tea” or “Kentucky Derby” attire as entertainment includes a Hat contest, a full (and quite amazingly long) candy bar for the girls, plus Raffle Baskets for girls of all ages to get in on the “silent auction” fun.
So what about the membership requirements?
Volunteer opportunities are provided throughout the year at various times during the day, evening and on weekends. You can choose to volunteer during the year as your personal schedule allows. Some of our members volunteer monthly and some focus their efforts during certain months or times of the year. For a new member, the FWL requires only 24 service hours over a 9 month “New Member” year, plus only 4 Monthly Meetings which are scheduled for the first Thursday of each month.
“I Want to Join!”
The deadline for members, both New and Returning, to complete the online Membership Application and submit payment for Member Dues is June 1, 2016. New Members need to attend one (1) orientation to begin the membership process.
